"Arcite's death" from Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, illustrated book
This artwork titled "Arcite's death" accompanies The Knight's Tale. March 2014. The first tale from Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, illustrated book published by Black Cat Publishing in 2014. The story tells of two knights from Thebes who fall in love with the same woman, a princess of Athens named Emily.
The Canterbury Tales original is a collection of over 20 stories. In this retelling of five of the stories in modern English published by Black Cat, Chaucer’s pilgrims entertain us with tales of knights and ruffians, desperate lovers, resourceful women, talking animals… and more. We contributed with 11 illustrations.
We used mixed media, traditional methods and tools (pen, pencil, black gouache, paper) were combined with digital programs, however our visible brush strokes are handmade, not digital.
